Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital has announced that Dr. Madar Abed, M.D., an expert in cardiology and electrophysiology, as its new Medical Director of Electrophysiology.
Dr Abed is a board-certified cardiologist since 2003; he advanced his clinical spectrum in Cardiology and made a decision in 2012 to initiate the extensive training with the end goal of becoming an electrophysiologist. One year later, he graduated from the electrophysiology fellowship program at University of Arkansas for Medical Science.
Dr. Abed is a veteran to Ascension Providence Hospital and has brought many new skills and modalities as such; Cardiac Rhythm Management (Pacemaker implantation), AICD (defibrillator) implants, right and left sided cardiac dysrhythmia ablations, and laser lead extractions. He was also the first in the State of Michigan for many numerous devices and studies. Now with his new position as the Medical Director of Electrophysiology, he brings forth the needed quality and leadership which will improve in our patients’ lives. Furthermore, Dr. Abed will create an environment to advance the program from clinical research and adapting electrophysiology @APRH to high level patient care with the best technology and devices available.
In this leadership role, Dr. Abed will oversee all clinical, research and administrative services for the Electrophysiology Department within the Cardiovascular Services at Ascension Providence Hospitals. This EP program will ensure all avenues as it relates to quality and procedural elements only an electrophysiologist can command.
